Photo Site Video

I wanted to mess around with some software today and needed a subject. Since I said I was going to make a post on how to buy prints from the photo site, I thought I would use that. So here is a little video that shows how downloading and ordering prints on the photo site works. Let me know what you think. See ya~

Thanksgiving 2009

Tom and Kathy were nice enough to have the family over for Thanksgiving this year. We had the most amazing food ever, and I have been enjoying the left overs for several days now.  In case you have not seen her yet, the little baby everyone is holding is Simmie and Julie’s new daughter Jada Payne. As usual I took a few pictures and have put them up to share. You can find them in the Thanksgiving 2009 album on the Greatlandings photo site. Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving as well.

Baby Watch – Week #16

baby-development-16-weeks-pregnant2Hello everyone and welcome back to Baby Watch for Week #16. First and foremost I have a small clarification to make. Last week I started my post with “It is week number 15 now and that means we are rapidly approaching half time on this bad boy.” I have received several messages and phone calls asking if the phrase “bad boy” was some kind of slip up, or a hidden clue, insinuating that we know the sex of the baby and aren’t telling. I can tell you here and now that “bad boy” is just a phrase, similar to “Co co for Coco Puffs” or calling my car a she. As I said in my very first Baby Watch Erin and I have no intention to finding out the sex of the baby. However, should that change I promise to tell all of you right away, I don’t see any real point in us knowing but keeping it a secret from everyone else.

16 WeekswebMoving on, this week has been pretty good. Erin says she is starting to feel tiny flutters here and there and claims it is the baby moving around. I keep telling her she has gas, but the baby book says it is possible for her to start feeling butterflies (this is not an admission or clue of her having an actual butterfly). Otherwise she has been feeling fine, just as she has this whole time. We have been taking our semi-weekly pictures of her so we can look back and see how her belly has grown. Since she posted one on Facebook I am going to assume I can post one here. As you can see she really does look pregnant when she is not hiding it under some fancy maternity shirt. I can’t wait till it is HUGE and I can feel the butterfly baby move too!

We also have some more news on the baby room. Erin hung the wallpaper border this week, and we got a few little things to put in it from Babies-R-Us. So for now it is pretty much done, and I have to 11-21-2009websay it looks great! Erin gets most of the credit since I really just carried the heavy stuff and ran a roller. But I did vote for this border and stuff so that has to count for something. We have been looking for a rocking chair, but haven’t been able to find anything we liked that wasn’t a ton of money. So for now we are just going to hold off and focus on getting the crib and stuff in there.

Here is what they have to say on the baby site for week #16 ~

Baby’s Growth and Development at 16 Weeks Pregnant

During your 16th week of pregnancy, the muscles throughout your baby’s body are beginning to work. Ultrasounds can capture your baby’s basic movements as early as the 8th week of your pregnancy! Your doctor might schedule one for you between the 16th week of pregnancy and the 20th week.

  • Your baby is about 4 to 5 inches long — about the length of a large pear.
  • Your baby’s skeletal and nervous systems connect enough to allow him to coordinate movement.
  • When you’re 16 weeks pregnant, developed facial muscles make it possible for your baby to squint, frown, or try other facial expressions.
  • As back muscles strengthen, your baby is able to straighten his posture a little.
  • Your baby now has eyelashes.
  • By your 16th week of pregnancy, your baby’s eyes move side-to-side and even perceive some light, although his eyelids are still sealed.
  • Your baby’s bones build and strengthen with the help of your body’s calcium!
  • Your baby already might be having tiny hiccups, although when you’re 16 weeks pregnant, your baby is not large enough for you to feel them yet!
  • Having a girl? Within your baby’s tiny ovaries, millions of eggs already are forming, giving her the chance one day to have babies of her own!

Length of a large pear! (that is not an admission of clue of her having an actual large pear) That is pretty good size! I can’t wait to see what food it is the size of next week! See ya~

500x_nat_geoI like National Geographic, and I like photography. So naturally I love the National Geographic Photography Contest and all its amazing entries. Well the nice folks over at National Geographic have gone a step further and put all the entries for the 2009 National Geographic Photography Contest up for download to use as wallpaper on your computer. They already have a nice selection of wallpaper HERE, but these new ones have been provided in a slightly larger format for people with bigger screens. Anyway, if your interested in making them your wallpaper there are instructions on the site, if you are happy with the stale blue wallpaper you already got then at least head over and check out some amazing pictures. See ya~

Baby Watch – Week #15

baby-development-15-weeks-pregnantWelcome back to Baby Watch y’all! It is week number 15 now and that means we are rapidly approaching half time on this bad boy. Erin has been doing fine with the only changes coming in the form of bigger and bigger clothes. But she did find a nice store that has maternity clothes she likes so there is less running all over town looking for pants this week. Still tired a lot and she has been getting head aches almost every day. Although it is unclear if they are a side effect of the pregnancy or being married to me.

The biggest news this week is in the baby room. After making it as far as taping the room last week, we actually made it to the painting phase this week. My original plan was to just do the edging and finish up the rest at a later date, but once we had all the stuff out it was just easier to paint and get it done. Since it is a smaller room anyway it really didn’t take that long. Next step is to get the border, window treatments, and IMG_3566Weboutlet/switch covers up. Then we can move on to furniture. So far I beleive the plan is a crib, dresser with changing top, a small table or night stand, and a rocking chair. Erin feels very strongly about the rocking chair so that will probably be the first thing we pick up. I would like a small fridge and/or wine rack, but Erin said we had to “put a pin in that for now“. Not sure if that is good or bad thing.

Here is what they have to say on the baby site for week 15.

Baby’s Growth and Development at 15 Weeks Pregnant

Your baby’s internal and external growth continue at a remarkable pace throughout the 15th week of pregnancy.

  • When you’re 15 weeks pregnant, your baby is about 4 1/2 inches from head to rump, and weighs about 2 to 3 ounces. She’s about the length of a large apple.
  • Your baby’s hair might appear on her scalp and eyebrows. Hair follicles even begin to generate the pigments that give hair its color.
  • By your 15th week of pregnancy, your baby’s ears probably have reached their permanent position on the side of her head, and her eyes are moving to where they belong on the front of her face.
  • Your baby’s skin is developing, but remains extremely thin.
  • Your baby’s skeletal system and muscles further develop and strengthen.
  • By the end of your 15th week of pregnancy, your baby might be able to wiggle fingers and toes, make a fist, or even suck her thumb!

I can’t speak for everyone but I for one am happy to see the food references make a return. Size of an apple is so much easier to understand then all them crazy numbers! And I like apples, so being the size of an apple is a good thing in my book. Happy week 15 apple! See ya next week!
