Baby Watch – Week #15
Nov 18th 2009AdamBaby Updates
Welcome back to Baby Watch y’all! It is week number 15 now and that means we are rapidly approaching half time on this bad boy. Erin has been doing fine with the only changes coming in the form of bigger and bigger clothes. But she did find a nice store that has maternity clothes she likes so there is less running all over town looking for pants this week. Still tired a lot and she has been getting head aches almost every day. Although it is unclear if they are a side effect of the pregnancy or being married to me.
The biggest news this week is in the baby room. After making it as far as taping the room last week, we actually made it to the painting phase this week. My original plan was to just do the edging and finish up the rest at a later date, but once we had all the stuff out it was just easier to paint and get it done. Since it is a smaller room anyway it really didn’t take that long. Next step is to get the border, window treatments, and
outlet/switch covers up. Then we can move on to furniture. So far I beleive the plan is a crib, dresser with changing top, a small table or night stand, and a rocking chair. Erin feels very strongly about the rocking chair so that will probably be the first thing we pick up. I would like a small fridge and/or wine rack, but Erin said we had to “put a pin in that for now“. Not sure if that is good or bad thing.
Here is what they have to say on the baby site for week 15.
Baby’s Growth and Development at 15 Weeks Pregnant
Your baby’s internal and external growth continue at a remarkable pace throughout the 15th week of pregnancy.
- When you’re 15 weeks pregnant, your baby is about 4 1/2 inches from head to rump, and weighs about 2 to 3 ounces. She’s about the length of a large apple.
- Your baby’s hair might appear on her scalp and eyebrows. Hair follicles even begin to generate the pigments that give hair its color.
- By your 15th week of pregnancy, your baby’s ears probably have reached their permanent position on the side of her head, and her eyes are moving to where they belong on the front of her face.
- Your baby’s skin is developing, but remains extremely thin.
- Your baby’s skeletal system and muscles further develop and strengthen.
- By the end of your 15th week of pregnancy, your baby might be able to wiggle fingers and toes, make a fist, or even suck her thumb!
I can’t speak for everyone but I for one am happy to see the food references make a return. Size of an apple is so much easier to understand then all them crazy numbers! And I like apples, so being the size of an apple is a good thing in my book. Happy week 15 apple! See ya next week!
