Baby Jackson

Erin and I went over to see little baby Jackson again last night. Hard to beleive he is almost double in size what he was just six weeks ago, and that today was his original due date! He was as cute as ever and had his eyes open checking stuff out a lot more then the last time we were over. I have added some more pictures to the Jackson Andrew album on the Photo Site so be sure to check them out. To help keep them sorted I have added the date they were taken below the pictures.

Baby Watch – Week #25

Hey everyone! It is Wednesday and that means it is time for another edition of Baby Watch! We are at week #25 now, and that means just a quick 15 more weeks to go before I start posting two million baby pictures a day! Bet y’all can’t wait for that! Otherwise Erin and baby are doing very well. Erin spent some time in the baby room this week putting up more stuff on the walls. At this rate there shouldn’t be a free spot open by the time the baby gets here. My idea was to put up a bunch of pictures of me so it would know who I was. But Erin said no and to stop talking.

We did have a doctors appointment this week where they made us wait f-o-r-e-v-e-r, as usual. This time I made the most of it by playing around with all the stuff in the room. Including this really cool giant Q-Tip looking things. When they did finally get to us it was quick as always. Erin did ask a bunch of questions about some of the issues she has had of late. They pretty much told her eating Oreo pie was not something she “had” to do, and the sore muscles and joints were normal. The only other issue has been some swelling in both Erin and I. The doctors said to Erin it was normal and to just try and drink some more water. For me they said it wasn’t swelling and to stop talking during the exam.

Two cool things did come out of our doctors visit this week. First we learned we get to have another ultrasound next week. This isn’t normal, but it isn’t uncommon either. They just want to check on the babies size and see if everything is still on track. So look out for some new pictures in next weeks update. The second cool thing is they let me record the heartbeat! I have embedded it below in case y’all want to take a listen too. All you have to do is hit the play button. Personally I think it is AWESOME!

Here is what the baby site has to say for week #25 ~

Baby’s Growth and Development at 25 Weeks Pregnant

During the 25th week of pregnancy, your baby uses her tiny developing hands to learn about herself and her environment. Here’s what else is going on:

  • This week, your baby weighs about a pound and a half, and is about the length of a small cantaloupe.
  • Reach for the stars! When you’re 25 weeks pregnant, your baby’s hands are fully developed. She even can make a fist.
  • The nerve connections in her hands continue to develop.
  • She uses her hands to explore her environment.

Cantaloupe! That is pretty sweet too. I guess we will find out next week just how accurate these food sizes are when we go for the ultrasound. Seriously though who would have thought baby talk would make me hungry! See ya next week!

Baby Watch – Week #24

Welcome to Baby Watch for week #24, and for you with your math hats on it is indeed the 6 month point. This weeks update is brought to you by the magic of the internet. As you may or may not know I am currently out of town on the Goodtimers Ski Trip but never wanting to miss an update I have set everything up before I left. So I am either coming to you from the future, or the past, depending on how you look at it, either way it’s magic! In any case lets chat about another type the magic, baby baking magic!

Erin and baby are both doing great. As reported in last weeks update I have been just barely starting to feel the baby move around here and there. I am very excited for when it gets a little bigger and hopefully easier to feel. As it is now I have to press and hold my hand on Erin’s belly in order to have a chance. But it is still the most awesome thing ever. Otherwise things are pretty boring around here.

Here is what the baby site has to say for week #24 ~

Baby’s Growth and Development at 24 Weeks Pregnant

During your 24th week of pregnancy, your baby’s face is almost completely formed, down to the tiny eyelashes.

  • When you’re 24 weeks pregnant, your baby is about 8 inches long, close to the length of a banana, and weighs about 1 1/2 pounds.
  • Which way is up? Your baby probably knows — now that his inner ear, which controls balance, has finished developing. He might realize whether he is upside down or right side up inside your amniotic sac.
  • Your baby probably is continuing to become more active.
    • Your baby’s movements show your doctor that your baby is in good health.
    • His movements right now are important for stimulating muscle growth, keeping joints flexible, and strengthening bones.
  • Right now, your baby probably is gaining about 6 ounces each week.

Pretty cool to think that right now the babies face is pretty much done, and these people have obviously never meet me judging by the statement “tiny eyelashes“. Also sounds like things will be picking up a bit if it is going to grow six ounces each week now. Good times!

Junior Crime Stoppers!

In case you missed it we have our very own Scooby-Doo crime stoppers in the family. On last nights news I seen Daphne and Shaggy, better known as Austin and Emily, being interviewed about their witnessing of a robbery on Colerain! According to the report they were eating dinner with their Grandmother when some joker with a hoodie and mask on came in and demanded the money. In the end everyone was very impressed with the help they gave to the police. Way to go guys!

Baby Watch – Week #23

Hello everyone and welcome back to Baby Watch for week #23. This week is very special and falls into the “Super Duper Awesome Milestone” category. Why you ask? Because on Saturday morning I got to feel the baby move for the first time! That’s right, I felt the baby move! On Saturday morning Erin woke me up and told me that the baby was moving a lot. Having heard this a ton lately, I just nodded and said that was great. She then put my hand on her belly and told me to try and see if I could feel it. Again having done this a ton lately, I played along putting my hand on her belly all the while still half asleep and half thinking if we could made it to IHOP for breakfast before the Church crowd showed up. Then BANG! I felt it! Just a tiny little poke on my hand, followed by another, and another! It was all over in a matter of 15 seconds, but it was probably one of the best 15 seconds of my entire life!

Other then that little bit of fantastic news everything is progressing nicely. Erin is doing good and her belly is managing to get bigger and bigger every day. Erin also spent some more time in the babies room this past week. Putting up some cool little stickers on the wall of a tree and some animals. We are still on the lookout for an affordable rocking chair and small table to complete the room. But other then that it is pretty much baby ready! Just like me!

Here is what we have on the baby site for week #23~

Baby’s Growth and Development at 23 Weeks Pregnant

Much of your baby’s development during the 23rd week of pregnancy focuses on preparing for her first real breath once she is born. Here’s what’s happening this week:

  • Your baby weighs slightly more than a pound now, and she’s about the length of an ear of corn.
  • Your baby’s lungs develop rapidly this week as they prepare for birth.
    • Her lungs are producing a substance called surfactant that allows the lungs to inflate and deflate without collapsing or sticking together.
    • Blood vessels in your baby’s lungs also are growing and developing in preparation for breathing.
  • Your baby is making breathing-like movements for practice, moving amniotic fluid in and out of her lungs.
  • Although your baby is getting all of the oxygen she needs from your placenta, this practice is important for developing her diaphragm muscles.
  • By your 23rd week of pregnancy, your baby actually looks like a baby. She still has little body fat and still is trying to fill out her wrinkly skin.

I for one am very happy to see corn as our size this week. Unlike summer squash or last weeks Head of Cabbage, I actually know what size an Ear of Corn is, and it is pretty freaking big! Roll on week #24!
