Baby Watch – Week #24

Welcome to Baby Watch for week #24, and for you with your math hats on it is indeed the 6 month point. This weeks update is brought to you by the magic of the internet. As you may or may not know I am currently out of town on the Goodtimers Ski Trip but never wanting to miss an update I have set everything up before I left. So I am either coming to you from the future, or the past, depending on how you look at it, either way it’s magic! In any case lets chat about another type the magic, baby baking magic!

Erin and baby are both doing great. As reported in last weeks update I have been just barely starting to feel the baby move around here and there. I am very excited for when it gets a little bigger and hopefully easier to feel. As it is now I have to press and hold my hand on Erin’s belly in order to have a chance. But it is still the most awesome thing ever. Otherwise things are pretty boring around here.

Here is what the baby site has to say for week #24 ~

Baby’s Growth and Development at 24 Weeks Pregnant

During your 24th week of pregnancy, your baby’s face is almost completely formed, down to the tiny eyelashes.

  • When you’re 24 weeks pregnant, your baby is about 8 inches long, close to the length of a banana, and weighs about 1 1/2 pounds.
  • Which way is up? Your baby probably knows — now that his inner ear, which controls balance, has finished developing. He might realize whether he is upside down or right side up inside your amniotic sac.
  • Your baby probably is continuing to become more active.
    • Your baby’s movements show your doctor that your baby is in good health.
    • His movements right now are important for stimulating muscle growth, keeping joints flexible, and strengthening bones.
  • Right now, your baby probably is gaining about 6 ounces each week.

Pretty cool to think that right now the babies face is pretty much done, and these people have obviously never meet me judging by the statement “tiny eyelashes“. Also sounds like things will be picking up a bit if it is going to grow six ounces each week now. Good times!
