Junior Crime Stoppers!

In case you missed it we have our very own Scooby-Doo crime stoppers in the family. On last nights news I seen Daphne and Shaggy, better known as Austin and Emily, being interviewed about their witnessing of a robbery on Colerain! According to the report they were eating dinner with their Grandmother when some joker with a hoodie and mask on came in and demanded the money. In the end everyone was very impressed with the help they gave to the police. Way to go guys!

Halloween 2009

In case you were wondering why a bunch of kids kept coming to your door demanding treats it was because this past weekend was Halloween! Erin and I were lucky enough to be able to spend the night with Kathy, Tom, Adam, Sarah, Skylar, and Cole at our house. Skylar dressed up as a dead bridesmaid, and Cole went as Jason from the Friday the 13th movies. Adam A had on a crazy biker outfit, and I went as a pilot (I had all the stuff already). There was also an appearance from Super Dog and Bat Dog! We set up the bonfire in the driveway and handed out candy and after trick or treating was over we headed in the house for a little Rockband. It was a great night but I have to admit I didn’t feel all that well today. I’m not sure if it was the wine (served Kentucky style over ice in a plastic cup) or all the Halloween candy I ate, but either way today was a slow recovery day. Good times, and thanks to everyone for coming over!

It’s a Mystery… Trip!

P1020431This past weekend Erin and I went on the Goodtimer Mystery Trip, and before you ask a Mystery Trip is a trip that is a mystery. The trip is planned by a few (Al, Betty, and Sarge) and the rest just show up. All we knew before hand was that the bus left at 8:30AM from the usual place on Saturday and that we would be back no later then 6:00PM on Sunday. So Erin and I showed up and got on the bus as instructed Saturday morning for our first Mystery Trip and it didn’t take long for the drinks and fun to start. There was Bloody Mary’s and beer right off the bat, followed by some great bus games such as Bus Bingo and Trivia. All of course were competing for what Al called “Fabulous Prizes”.

After a few hours on the bus we stopped at a diner for lunch. We were told just prior to getting there that this diner was featured on an episode of Diners, Drive-ins’, Dives, a TV show on Food Network. While there Erin got what looked like their signature hot dog called the “Homewrecker”. What she didn’t know was that hot dog was 15″ long and weighed one pound, and that was before all the stuff they loaded on! We (and everyone around) took pictures of this monster, but you can also click the link above for a video of when this hot dog was featured on the TV show.

P1020401Next up we got back on the bus and headed to our final destination which we were unable to guess till we were less then a mile from it. While driving down the highway I noticed a sign for dog racing and a casino. I turned to Erin and said I had never seen dogs race and thought that would be neat to do sometime. Next thing I know we were taking the exit and Sarge was telling us we were here! Here turned out to be the Mardi Gras Racetrack and Casino in Nitro, WV where we stayed at a nearby hotel and hit the casino for a few hours that night.

All and all it was a great trip and I can’t wait to see what the mystery is next year! Thanks to everyone for making this a fun time and be sure to check out the pictures on the Greatlandings photo site under the Mystery Trip 2009 album!

Chargers Houseboat Trip 2009

Adam and I went on the Charger houseboat trip this weekend to Lake Cumberland. This is the same weekend as the Poker Run so there was plenty of cool boats and stuff to look at. We spent the first two nights in Harmon Creek where all the other houseboats were parked and all Poker Run boats drove through to show off. The last night we beached up in a cove and built a giant bonfire. It was an awesome trip and I can’t wait for next year!

Take a look at the pics I took on the Greatlandings Photo site under Charger Houseboat 2009.

Goodtimer Freedom Ride 2009

This past Sunday was the 9th annual Goodtimer Freedom Ride. Erin and I were in attendance where Erin helped with several things, and I walking around with the camera. If I heard correctly there was around 365 bikes that took part in the ride, and judging by the crowd afterwords at least double or more at the after party. There was booths, bands, beer, and babes (or was it babies?) and the whole event was a great time. I ended up taking around 1200 pictures although many of them are of the motorcycles heading out and coming back in. Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make such an awesome event possible. I can’t wait till next year! Be sure to check out all the photos in the Goodtimer Freedom Ride 2009 album on the Greatlandings photo site.
