Lake Trip 7-17-2010

Erin, Caden, and I spent this past weekend at Tom and Kathy’s house on Norris Lake. The rest of the family was busy so it was just the three of us, but we had a great time and had a few friends and neighbors stop over. The weather was hot as all get out and even with a forecast for 50% rain and thunderstorms all weekend it only rained 20 min right before we came home on Sunday. As usual I took some pictures. They are mostly of Caden, but there are a few of Erin and I as well. You can find them in the Lake Trip 7-17-10 album on the Greatlandings photo site.

Fathers Day at Norris Lake

Erin and I went down to the lake this weekend where I got to have my first Fathers Day ever! It was awesome and I got lots of cards and love from little Caden. He even spent his first night sleeping on the boat with me and really seemed to enjoy it. The weather was great too, it only stormed one time and the rest was 90+ degrees every day. Tom took Karen and Tom fishing on Saturday morning and and they caught three real nice fish. All and all it was a great time and I am looking forward to going back for Fourth of July weekend. Thanks to Tom and Kathy for having us!

As always there are pictures, you can find them on the Greatlandings photo site in the Lake 6-19-10 album.

Memorial Day 2010

Erin, Caden, and I spent the holiday weekend down at Tom and Kathy’s floating house on Norris Lake. We had an awesome time hanging out with the family enjoying the great weather, eating some amazing food, and having a few cocktails. Outside of a massive thunderstorm on Friday night (check out my first ever lightning picture), the weather was perfect and the water was the warmest I can remember for Memorial Day weekend.

Caden loved the lake as well and did much better then we ever thought he would. Huge thanks to everyone for a great time and for helping out with Caden, especially Tom and Kathy who not only let us hang out at their house, they even gave up their bedroom so Caden didn’t have to sleep on the boat his first time down.

As always I took a bunch of pictures and you can find them on the Greatlandings photo site in the Memorial Day 2010 album.

Holy Twister Batman!

This weekend Erin and I went down to the lake to hang out with Tom, Kathy and some of their friends. We also planned on getting the boat winterized and put away for the year. When we left Cincinnati it was raining, as we went it rained more and more, and harder and harder. When we finally got to the dock it looked like we were going to get a short break to carry the stuff down to the boat. So we grabbed all we could and headed down to the boat. Across the water a little ways we could see Tom and John near where Tom parks his boat. Then Erin said here comes the rain again.. and what came next was nothing short of crazy! It rained so much, and the wind blew so hard I said to Erin it felt like a tornado. Well when all was said and done, it was a tornado! You can see by the pictures it tore apart docks, snapped boards, and removed roofs. The worst of it happened to some poor little floating house that was completely destroyed. All the walls and roof where scattered in the water around the marina, while their furniture and stuff remained sitting there. The marina owner told us later that they found the roof to one of the houses up the hill in the woods somewhere. Crazy stuff! The only good side is to my knowledge no one was hurt.

Other then that it was a nice weekend! We got the boat put away and we had a fun time relaxing with everyone. Sad to think that boating is pretty much over for the year, but nice to think that by the time we go back next year to open the boat back up it will be me, Erin, and the baby going!

Norris Lake 8-29-09

ColeErin and I just returned from another fun filled weekend at Norris Lake. While the weather probably could have been a little nicer to us, it was still an awesome time. As usual there was some swimming, some fishing, some eating, some lots of drinking, and even a bit of jumping. And by jumping I am talking about the good old bridge jumping kind. If you take a look at the pictures you will see Adam, Simmie, Justin, and Cole… let me say that last one again… COLE… All up on the bridge jumping off. In fact Justin and Cole went twice, while it took every fiber in his scared silly body to get Simmie to jump the first time!

Be sure to check out all the pics in the Lake 8-28-2009 album on the Greatlandings Photo Site! Thanks to everyone for a great weekend!

Lake Trip 8-8-09

Erin and I were at the lake this past weekend. The water was warm and the beer was cold so lots of good times were had. Some nice pictures of the kids, and some funny ones of Tom doing some “night fishing”. Be sure to take a look at the whole Lake Trip 8-8-09 album on the GreatLandings photo site. Thanks, See ya~

Adult Lake Trip 2009

This past weekend was the Adult Trip to Norris Lake. There were four couples on Tom and Kathy’s house, and four couples in each of the two Gone South floating house rentals, giving us a total of 12 couples/24 people/48 legs/240 fingers 239 toes/and zero kids/pets.  And with them kind of numbers there was no shortage of fun people to hang out with. From the time we got our first complaint at the marina (2:00 in the afternoon) I knew it was going to be a good weekend. We had good weather (even though the forecast was for 60% chance of thunderstorms all weekend), great food, and awesome drinks! There was singing, swimming, fishing, boating, and floating. And only one minor injury that was quickly fixed up with an ice pack and some dock line.

I had to delete about 600 pictures since there are laws about showing that kind of stuff on the Internet (I’m looking at you Amy!), but you can check out the full Adult Lake Trip 2009 album on the Greatlandings Photo Site. Thanks to all for a great time!

PS – Huge thanks to Megan for babysitting our house and “kids” so we could have fun!
